The following is a small sampling of the type of highly skilled instructors associated with The Ultra Group.

  Gary Thompson has extensive experience in all aspects of petroleum engineering, drilling to reservoir engineering. His twenty -two year diversified experience level includes drilling, production and reservoir engineering, well stimulation, well intervention, facilities, economic analysis, joint ventures and strategic project upstream planning. Gary's comprehensive 18 year career with Chevron, along with a variety of assignments with progressively increasing responsibilities have given him a very broad perspective of the oil and gas industry. Overall, seven previous overseas assignments in Scotland, Nigeria, Angola, Zaire, Indonesia, China and Malaysia, both onshore and offshore, has provided good technical knowledge of a variety of geological environments, types of reservoirs and operating conditions. Gary graduated from Louisiana State University in 1979, USA with a B.S. degree in Petroleum Engineering and is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers. Added to Gary's accomplishments are his multilingual skills. Besides English Gary can speak French, Spanish, Bahasa Indonesian, Lingala, Swahili and Mandarin Chinese.


  James Hollywood is a well respected Exploration and Production Business Manager, he has worked 18 years for ARCO International on projects in 20 different countries on four continents.  Starting as a geologist in 1982, he progressed through the company to New Ventures Exploration manager, initially in the Far East and subsequently responsible for Europe and North Africa. During the course of his career, he played a key role in global discoveries.  He also worked in strategic planning and economic evaluation at ARCO.  Since leaving ARCO in 2000, Jim has become an independent consultant specializing in bypassed pay evaluation, asset evaluation and exploration planning.  Jim obtained a bachelors degree in Geology at Stanford University and a masters degree in Geology at USC.  He also received an MBA at UCLA in finance and international business.
